CCRCs are at their best when calamity strikes. Then residents, staff, and executives come together with a common purpose to overcome adversity.

We've seen this resilience of the spirit and courage in the face of the unthinkable in the case of Katrina, again when wild fires threatened California CCRCs, once more with amazingly calm mutual responsiveness when Hurricane Sandy saveaged the East Coast in 2012 (see the News for that year).

Now in 2013, in the case of Frasier Meadows Retirement Community, we have seen that same coming together of a CCRC community, a community not only of residents, but a community that extends to include staff and leaders. Frasier Meadows, under the capable leadership of its CEO, Tim Johnson, when faced with unprecedented, unforeseeable floods that were relentless in their assault, rose to the challenge and created a paradigm on how to manage disaster that will inspire CCRC managers and residents everywhere.

To read the story as reported by the Frasier Meadows community people themselves, click on this paragraph.  It will take you to the Frasier Meadows newsletter that has chronicled extraordinary leadership and methodical responsiveness that kept all from harm.  It might have been worse, much worse, but the Frasier Meadows community pulled together to make sure that it wasn't.  All were saved from harm.
